Random on my iPod: Japan

6 08 2009

In our ongoing series of amazing stuff that pops up on shuffle on our iPods, mine today was Quiet Life by the early 80’s New Romantic band Japan. Lead by David Sylvian (a god) before launching a new flawless solo career, Japan’s album of the same name marked a shift in their sound from late 70’s glammy to one of the first UK bands to be dubbed New Romantic. With sharp suits, smooth sounds, and a sexy swagger became a big boys band and a DEFINITE lightbulb moment for Nick Rhodes and Duran Duran. ¬†Listen especially to the guitar and base and you’ll totally here the first 2 DD albums. Great, classic stuff.
